Executive Secretary General of China-ASEAN Business Council Joins GCEL as Advisory Board Member to Accelerate the Goals of the Asia-Pacific 16-Nation RCEP A high-level strategy session was held at GCEL’s Asia Headquarters where Asian economic and trade experts convened to coordinate the deployment of GCEL’s Digital Economy Platform (DEP).
The RCEP covers China, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia, New Zealand and ASEAN. It aims to tie together ASEAN’s bilateral free trade agreements with each trading partner.
Mr. Xu Ningning, Executive Secretary General of the China-ASEAN Business Council and Secretary General of the Southeast Asia Institute of China lauded the major synergies between GCEL’s HumaWealth Program and RCEP’s trade objectives stating, “The RCEP covers nearly half the world’s population. GCEL’s innovative digital trade platform will greatly accelerate the RCEP’s objectives to expand free trade agreements and further trade integration in China, Asia and the world.” Mr. Ningning was recently appointed as an Advisory Board member of Asia Logistics Council.
Captain Samuel Salloum, GCEL’s Co-Chairman said, “We have commenced deployment of the Digital Economy Platform through the Asia Benchmark Trade Lane between G20 countries India and Indonesia. The Digital Economy Platform is the required tool towards achieving optimum trade performance levels, thus reaching full trade potential. This represents the same spirit of innovation that enabled a simple steel box, the container, to deliver tremendous levels of trade efficiency resulting in decades of global economic growth.”
Pan regional organizations including the Organization of American States, African Union (AU), League of Arab States (LAS), ASEAN-BAC and ADFIAP have partnered with GCEL through MOUs as well as joint economic publications presenting the road map to achieve the above. The world’s top 26 technology firms have entered into strategic agreements with GCEL as a first step towards being selected under an equal opportunity process to deploy the digital platform globally.
Asia Logistics Council Chairman, H.E. Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Mamat, former Secretary General of Malaysia’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry, welcomed Mr. Ningning stating, “The G20 leaders recognize the importance of trade; and that gains in efficiency, security and transparency which reduce costs and facilitate increased trade is a key step to the prosperity of people, nations, regions, and the world. We look forward to Mr. Ningning’s expert advice as we deliver a tangible program to enhance Asia’s growth as well as global trade.”
GCEL’s HumaWealth Program is being deployed through 4 Benchmark Trade Lanes in Asia, Americas, Europe and MEA. The MEA trade lane is being launched with the Saudi Arabia and UAE governments along with LAS, AU and Islamic Center for Development of Trade. The MEA trade lane will trigger economic growth within the Euro-Med creating nearly 8 million new jobs for Europe and 32 million in the South Med.
