CHINA SHIPMENT EFFICIENCY ASSESSMENT IDENTIFIES NEW DIGITAL TOOLS TO EXPAND TRADE AND CREATE MILLIONS OF JOBS

The China Shipment and Trade Efficiency Assessment (SEA) was completed during a review session held in Beijing, China, on December 3, 2017.
The assessment was reviewed by leading trade and economic experts, including Professor Tu Xinquan and Professor Xia Youfu of the University of International Business and Economics, Mr. Li Gang of the Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, Mr. Eric Lu of Jumore, Mr. Huang Jun of China’s Top 500 Foreign Trade Enterprises Club, and Mr. Li Qianqian of the Development Research Center of the State Council of China.
Conducted in cooperation with GCEL, the China SEA provided a comprehensive evaluation of trade efficiency based on the opportunities enabled by modern digital technologies.
The findings revealed that 96.3% of businesses identified the need for advanced digital tools to strengthen global competitiveness. According to the assessment, digital transformation could reduce China’s annual domestic and international trade costs by USD 828 billion, increase trade by USD 941 billion, and create more than 44 million jobs.
