GCEL COMPLETES THE UNITED KINGDOM SHIPMENT EFFICIENCY ASSESSMENT (SEA)

High-level officials gathered in London on October 16, 2017 to complete the United Kingdom Shipment Efficiency Assessment (SEA), a comprehensive study providing recommendations to strengthen U.K. trade performance.
Participants included Lord Waverley of the U.K. Parliament, Simon Spier of techUK, Bob Collier, Deputy Director of Exports and Investment, Lesley Batchelor, Director General of the Institute of Export & International Trade, and Professor Nikos Nomikos of Cass Business School.
Conducted in cooperation with GCEL, the assessment evaluated trade efficiency based on the opportunities enabled by modern digital technologies.
The findings revealed that 96.8% of U.K. businesses identified the need for new digital tools to improve global competitiveness. According to the report, digital transformation could reduce annual domestic and international trade costs by USD 128 billion, increase trade by USD 165 billion, and create more than 1.1 million jobs.
