RUSSIA COMPLETES SHIPMENT EFFICIENCY ASSESSMENT WITH GCEL TO ADVANCE THE DIGITAL ECONOMY

Senior representatives from government ministries, industry organizations, private-sector companies, and academic institutions gathered in Moscow on October 10, 2017 to mark the completion of the Russia Shipment and Trade Efficiency Assessment (SEA).
Participating organizations included Russia’s Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Skolkovo Foundation, Russian Venture Company (RVC), Vnesheconombank (VEB), Higher School of Economics, and the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA).
Conducted in cooperation with GCEL, the assessment provided a comprehensive evaluation of trade efficiency based on the capabilities of modern digital technologies and integrated trade systems.
The report found that deploying advanced digital tools could reduce Russia’s trade costs by USD 169 billion, increase trade by USD 343 billion, and create approximately 16.1 million jobs. The assessment also revealed that 98.8% of trade participants support the adoption of Digital Economy Platform tools to improve competitiveness in global markets.
