June 09, 2013
At a strategic session at GCEL’s Asia Headquarters, Asian trade and economic leaders discussed deployment of the Digital Economy Platform (DEP). Xu Ningning, Executive Secretary General of the China-ASEAN Business Council and Secretary General of the Southeast Asia Institute of China, joined the Asia Logistics Council Advisory Board.
The RCEP includes China, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia, New Zealand, and ASEAN countries, covering nearly half of the world’s population. GCEL highlighted that the Digital Economy Platform supports RCEP objectives by expanding trade integration and improving trade efficiency.
GCEL has begun deployment through the Asia Benchmark Trade Lane between India and Indonesia. The platform is designed to improve trade performance, efficiency, security, and transparency while helping economies reach their full trade potential.
GCEL has established partnerships with organizations including the Organization of American States, African Union, League of Arab States, ASEAN-BAC, and ADFIAP. In addition, 26 leading technology firms have entered strategic agreements as part of an equal opportunity process for global platform deployment.
GCEL’s HumaWealth Program is being deployed through four Benchmark Trade Lanes across Asia, the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East and Africa. The MEA Trade Lane, launched with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the League of Arab States, the African Union, and ICDT, is projected to create nearly 8 million jobs in Europe and 32 million jobs in the South Mediterranean region.
