Strategic Agreement Between GCEL and ICDT

STRATEGIC AGREEMENT BETWEEN GCEL AND ICDT

June 15, 2013

The Global Coalition for Efficient Logistics (GCEL) and the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT), a subsidiary of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), signed a strategic MOU to support participation of 57 OIC countries in the HumaWealth Program.

The Digital Economy Platform aims to reduce OIC countries’ annual trade costs by USD 75 billion, increase global trade by USD 1.2 trillion, create a USD 6 trillion services market opportunity, and generate nearly 100 million jobs, including 32 million in the Middle East and Africa region. The platform is provided at no cost to end users.

The agreement was signed by ICDT Director General Dr. El Hassane Hzaine and GCEL Co-Chairman Captain Samuel Salloum. It expands GCEL’s partnerships with regional organizations and major economies, including the League of Arab States, Organization of American States, India, and Indonesia.

GCEL highlighted the New Millennium Standard for Growth (N-MSG) Council, built on four foundations: defined economic targets, a roadmap for implementation, the required enabling tools, and global consensus to accelerate results.

ICDT emphasized the importance of trade efficiency and transparency in strengthening economic integration and helping OIC countries compete within emerging global trade frameworks such as TPP and RCEP.

The agreement follows GCEL trade efficiency assessments in India, Indonesia, and Malaysia, covering 20% of the world’s population and 40% of the Middle East and Africa’s non-oil trade volume.
