VOICE OF G20 CITIZENS
THE PROBLEM
“Who should define the Digital Economy, and where can it deliver the greatest impact?”
In today’s world, the Digital Economy has become indispensable — recognized by G20 leaders as a key driver of sustainable global growth. Yet, its full potential remains undefined and underutilized.
Many experts and technology providers have attempted to define the Digital Economy through their own products and services, focusing primarily on digitalization as a source of revenue and job creation. While valuable, these efforts do not capture the true essence and power of the Digital Economy.
The Digital Economy must be more than an industry — it must be a catalyst for restoring the vitality of the global Real Economy:
the industries that produce and deliver the food we eat, the clothes we wear, and the materials that build our cities.
At the heart of this Real Economy are Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) — responsible for up to 80% of employment in many countries.
If the Digital Economy is to succeed, it must empower these enterprises to operate more efficiently, access financing, and expand into new markets.
THE SOLUTION
“By listening directly to Real Economy participants and measuring their efficiency, we can define the Digital Economy based on what they truly need.”
The G20 Nations Case Study represents the first comprehensive, ground-level diagnostic of the global B2B marketplace — conducted in collaboration with more than 90 G20 ministries, IGOs/NGOs, academia, and private-sector experts.
Spanning 19 industry clusters and gathering 1.2 million data points, the Case Study provided the clearest picture yet of where the world stands and what is required to move forward.
The findings were striking:
• 90.4% of commerce participants do not have an integrated system to participate effectively in the Digital Economy.
• 94.5% have defined the digital tools they need to improve their competitiveness and productivity.
By listening directly to the Real Economy, analyzing current efficiency levels, and mapping their needs across supply chains, GCEL and its partners have identified precisely which digital tools are required to transform productivity — providing a roadmap for an inclusive, data-driven Digital Economy that truly serves all.
THE BENEFITS
“The G20 Nations Case Study marks the first tangible step toward realizing the Digital Economy — at no cost to the end user — and renewing prosperity worldwide.”
The G20 Nations Case Study does more than measure — it guides action.
It shows where the world stands today, where it must go, and most importantly, how to get there.
By diagnosing commerce-efficiency challenges and leveraging the Digital Economy through the New Millennium Standard for Growth (N-MSG), the study provides a scientific foundation for reform — one that transforms inefficiency into opportunity.
Through this process, we lay the groundwork for:
• Sustained global economic growth based on measurable efficiency gains.
• Empowered SMEs that can access global markets, financing, and insurance.
• Shared prosperity that reaches every level of society.
The Voice of the G20 Citizens is clear: the world demands a Digital Economy that serves humanity — one that delivers inclusion, efficiency, and a renewed era of prosperity for all.
